Culture and picturesque scenery on offer with artsy road trip

The creator of a unique art and lifestyle trail that journeys through the Moreton Bay Hinterland is encouraging locals and visitors to jump in the car and go exploring.

Danielle Latta launched Tawny Trails in November 2021 to drum up more visitors to the hinterland’s galleries, museums, national parks, restaurants, wineries and hotels.

Visitors will experience the charming towns of Woodford and Dayboro, as well as on the picturesque roads of Mount Mee, Ocean View, Clear Mountain, Samford and Wights Mountain on the 70km adventure.

Ms Latta described the trail as a “creative living experience” with something for everyone of all ages and interests to enjoy.

“Creative living is partly about exploring, experiencing, and experimenting. So, we decided to incorporate not only stunning state-of-the-art galleries and brilliant unique art studios but also lifestyle elements,” she said.

“Along this picturesque journey you will find an abundance of different creative art forms, from liquid pouring and large abstract landscapes paintings to glass-blown vases and rare iconic artworks.

“It was also important to show appreciation for the other businesses that support the arts, so they have been included too.”

In addition, visitors can also go horse riding, trek the Gantry Nature Walk and participate in a yoga class.

“But we didn't stop there as we have also included a boutique tour guide. So even those who don't drive or would like to have the best trail experience with a few special extras, can,” Ms Latta said.

How to make the most of your trip

With so much to see and do, Ms Latta recommends you plan two trips or a weekend getaway to fully immerse yourself in the trail.

“The trail can be easily split in two - Dayboro to Woodford and Dayboro to Wights Mountain,” Ms Latta said.

“We recommend at least two visits to fully enjoy what's on offer.

“Our artists are constantly creating, so there will always be something new to experience.

“You will also find some sensational accommodation options for the complete immersive getaway.”

An easy-to-follow guide had been created for visitors.

“A trail means all the hard work has been done and put on a plate for you to enjoy - it’s the place to go for escape, inspiration and motivation,” Ms Latta said.

“A detailed, interactive trail map is found on the Tawny Trails website. It is designed to flow easily from one location to another, utilising Google maps and directions to keep things simple.”

This creative experience is offered on the last Sunday of every month.
