Emerging artists to feature in new exhibition

A number of artworks created by up-and-coming artists will be on display at the Bribie Community Arts Centre as part of a new exhibition for the community to enjoy.

Titled Making Connections Through Art, the focus of this exhibition is to showcase the different ways artists can be creative, while also inspiring others to create their own masterpieces.

A wide range of different mediums will be on display, including upcycling, oils, acrylics, mixed media, silver, leather, wool, watercolour, wire and more.

Making Connections Through Art will run from Tuesday, October 31 to Sunday, November 12.

There will also be a meet the artists event at the opening on Saturday, November 4 from 4-6pm.

Upcoming exhibitions

Described as “the creative hub of Bribie Island”, there is always something new and exciting to discover at the centre.

Several workshops are held each month, catering to beginners and experienced artists.

Upcoming workshops include a Christmas Wreath workshop, making your own Christmas earrings, alcohol ink and acrylic pouring.

The Bribie Island Community Arts Centre is located at 191 Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach.

The gallery is open six days a week, from 9am-4pm Tuesday-Saturday and 9am-1pm on Sunday.

Entry is free.

There is also an on-site cafe called Cafe 191 that is open seven days a week from 9am-2pm Tuesday-Saturday and 9am-1pm Sunday-Monday.

In addition, many local clubs and groups now call the centre home, including Bribie Island Gem and Fossicking Club, Bribie Woodcrafters, quilters, photographers, yoga and gardening clubs.
