Enjoy Movie in Park Albany Creek

Bring the family to the free Movie in the Park Albany Creek event on March 25 at Lemke Park.

It’s part of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s bumper community events program for 2023.

The film, Mary Poppins Returns (G), will be screened at the event which is on from 5-8pm.

Movie in the Park is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and strategic sponsors Moreton Alert, Ausbuild, UniSC, Brisbane Whale Watching, Village Motors and Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club and Gold sponsor TAFE Queensland.

Popcorn and fairy floss will be available for sale before the movie and sausage sandwiches will be available from the community barbecue which will raise money for Albany Creek Scout Group.

Don’t miss the movie

Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Matt Constance (Div 10) says locals should mark their calendars now and join in the fun of a movie under the stars.

“There’ll be a real festival vibe with popcorn and fairy floss for sale as well as a fundraising community barbecue, so all you need to bring is your picnic rug, chair and then sit back and enjoy a movie under the stars,” he says.

“I’ve not seen Mary Poppins Returns, but I’m a big fan of the original. Who knows, if you bring your own kite, the breeze might carry you all the way to the streets of old London town?

“There’ll be free entertainment from 4pm through to 8pm. I’m just hoping the recent humidity will have cleared by March 25 for a perfect autumn night.”

Mayor Peter Flannery says these kinds of events are becoming more important as the cost of living increases.

“It’s free, it’s live, it’s local and I want to see a lot more of these kinds of events in our neighbourhoods because it’s close enough to home that you don’t have to pay for parking in Brisbane or get stuck on the Bruce,” he says.

|“I’m really keen to hear from locals their ideas on how we can expand our music, events, and entertainment programs to make them even better for you.|

“I’m very, very serious about investing in our local lifestyle before Moreton Bay gets any bigger, to make sure you still love living here 50 years from now.

“That’s why this year we almost doubled the number of community events on our social calendar, and locals have turned out in droves.

“So clearly it’s an important civic service to provide.”
