Enjoy Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Pack your teddies and picnic blankets for a free Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Murrumba Downs on March 30.

The event is on from 9am to noon with free activities including live stage entertainment, children’s workshops, animal farm, soft play and amusement rides.

It will be perfect for children aged under five years.

Don’t worry if you forget your teddy, you can make a new one at a Build-a-Bear workshop for $10 each. Stock is limited, so get in early to avoid disappointment.

There will also be market stalls for mums and dads who can also grab a bite to each from local food trucks.

Live entertainment on the main stage will include North Lakes Library Rhyme Time, Renata Jayne, Happy Singing Kids, Little Wattlebird Band and the Big Bear show.

The event will culminate in a teddy bear parade.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and strategic sponsors Moreton Alert, Ausbuild, UniSC, Brisbane Whale Watching, Village Motors and Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club and supported by Gold Sponsors Lead Childcare and Education, Sesame Lane Care and Kindergarten, e2 Young-Engineers Brisbane Outer North, The Benevolent Society, North Lakes State College, Living Faith Lutheran Kindergarten and Belgravia Leisure.

Welcome boost for families

Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Yvonne Barlow (Div 7) says these kinds of events are important for families, especially as living costs increase.

“For young families, the teddy bears’ picnic is a wonderful tradition and great excuse for a family day out,” she says.

“I’m passionate about offering free or low-cost activities in our region for families to enjoy. There are rides and stalls and activations in a family-friendly setting, it really is fun for everyone.”

Mayor Peter Flannery says Council is delivering more events than ever and is seeing record turn-outs.

“Council is delivering a whopping 43 free community events in partnership with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) this financial year, on top of the regular signature events like Moreton Bay Food Wine Festival, Kitefest and Jetty 2 Jetty,” he explains.

“This is an enormous investment in vibrancy and a direct response to calls from locals for more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods, meaning residents won’t need to leave Moreton Bay.

“So, come on down and join in all the fun.”
