Expansion plans have been lodged for the new Narangba Heights Shopping Centre.

A development application (DA) for stage two of the centre, in Sovereign Drive, includes a limited line ALDI supermarket.

It also proposes a childcare centre with capacity for 120 youngsters, second food and drink outlet, a tyre and auto facility and two mixed-use buildings.

The first approved DA included a full-line Coles supermarket, service station, a food and drink outlet, shops and commercial/community buildings.

“An economic need exists for an ALDI supermarket in Narangba and would complement the approved Coles as it serves a different customer need,” says a report with the DA.

It says the “limited product line” ALDI would be “skewed towards families and residents seeking to carefully manage household budgets”.

The report also details areas in the Moreton Bay Region where ALDI is close to other supermarkets.

The report says (stage two) commercial and community-use buildings could house a swim school, medical centre, health facilities, a gym, vet and offices.

Narangba Heights Shopping Centre will be on 6.7 hectares, close to Oakey Flat Rd, of which 11,700sqm would be for retail and mixed-use.

This fast-growing area of Narangba includes the Kinma Valley development with around 2500 lots, Ridge View and Narangba Heights.
