If you’re looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist in Moreton Bay, visit the friendly staff at Platypus Dental.

With a team of experienced professionals and state-of-the-art facilities, the boutique dental clinic at Strathpine can help you achieve the healthy smile you have always wanted.

Leading the team is Dr Terry Pu, who has been providing quality oral care to Moreton Bay residents for more than eight years. He previously worked at private practices before establishing Platypus Dental in 2022.

“Your journey to a happier and healthier smile begins here,” Dr Terry says.

“We are not a corporate practice - we take our time to understand your needs and provide you with the best dental treatment that is best suited to you.

“We have three highly trained and experienced dentists, as well as our wonderful support staff, who are committed to ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care.

“Our team also has the ability to speak multiple languages, including English, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Taiwanese and Japanese.”

Working alongside Dr Terry are doctors Sam Chan and Joee Lim, and combined they bring more than 25 years’ experience to the clinic and their patients.

Services provided at Platypus Dental include general, restorative, paediatric and emergency dentistry, teeth whitening, oral surgery such as removing wisdom teeth, cosmetic treatments including crowns and bridges, 3D scans, dental implantology and All-On-X implant work.

“I like our team to stay up to date with the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques, allowing us to offer cutting-edge treatments and tailored solutions to all of our patients,” Dr Terry says.

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology (Distinction) from James Cook University, Dr Terry’s area of expertise is dental implants.

“The loss of a tooth can be a significant setback, affecting both the aesthetics of your smile and the functionality of your mouth,” Dr Terry says.

“Thankfully, dental implants are a durable and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth.

“It is always rewarding to help someone feel good about their smile again and give them their confidence back.”

The practice is also committed to using Australian-made products where possible from Melbourne-based company SDI, as well as collaborating with local technicians who make crowns, bridges and dentures.

Platypus Dental treats private and public patients through the Queensland Health Outsourcing system and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs program, with Medicare bulk billing for children.

A platypus doesn’t have any teeth, which is why Terry chose the name Platypus Dental. His business logo features a platypus swimming around a tooth to highlight Terry’s work with dental implants.

Good dental health leads to a beautiful smile

Having a healthy smile is not only important to your overall health and wellbeing, but it can also have a positive impact on your appearance.

To maintain optimal oral health, Terry says it’s important to schedule regular dental checkups.

“Prevention is always better than the cure, which is why I tell people they need to see us on a regular basis,” Terry says.

“Dentists are not here to hurt you – we are here to help guide you along your dental journey and make sure you’re going in the right direction to protect your teeth for life.

“People don’t realise teeth are an important organ in the body – you need them to eat and speak.

“If you don’t keep up with regular appointments, you will regret it when your teeth start to rot.

“If you ignore the problem, the pain will keep coming back, and by then the work that would be involved in fixing your teeth will be quite extensive.”

Health issues that can arise from poor dental hygiene include cavities, gum disease, malnutrition, oral cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and more.

Platypus Dental offers a deal for new patients that includes a comprehensive exam, scale and clean, x-rays and fluoride treatment for $199.

They also provide complimentary consultation appointments for teeth whitening, clear aligners, wisdom teeth extraction, dental implants and other work that requires complex treatment.

“We can help you achieve the smile you have always desired. Schedule an appointment now to see our friendly team and experience our exceptional dental care,” Terry says.
