Families urged to join community support event
Families who are struggling both socially and economically are encouraged to head along to one of three support sessions that will help them feel more connected to their community.
Called Connecting our Community, these support sessions will be held at various TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275) campuses throughout Moreton Bay and Brisbane over three days this June.
Moreton Bay Local Level Alliance Facilitator Tara Witney says the sessions are designed to meet various needs identified within the Moreton Bay Region.
“Mercy Community, Family Child Connect and Moreton Bay Local Level Alliance are partnering with TAFE Queensland, Brisbane, to facilitate three afternoon sessions to Connect our Community,” Tara says.
“The aim of the Connecting our Community event is to promote community connections and provide individuals and families with the resources and support they need to thrive.
“The event will bring together community partners from various sectors, including health, education, and social services. This approach will help individuals and families to identify the services and resources they need and access them in an efficient and effective way.
“One of the key features of Connecting our Community is its flexibility and informality; taking a community development approach to engage families and individuals in a way that maximises self-determination.
“This means participants can engage with a range of community partners in an informal setting, encouraging them to take control of their own lives.”
On offer will be health and wellbeing advice, education and training opportunities, parenting support and family-friendly activities.
“If you or someone you know is in need of support or resources, we encourage you to attend this event and connect with the community partners present. Together, we can build a strong, more connected community,” Tara says.
The event is open to all who would like to attend.

- Caboolture TAFE Queensland from 1-5pm on Monday, June 5
- Redcliffe TAFE Queensland from 1-5pm on Tuesday, June 6
- Bracken Ridge TAFE Queensland from 1-5om on Thursday, June 8
