Fatal shark attack at Bribie Island

A young woman has died after she was bitten by a shark at Bribie Island.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson says: “QAS assessed a female teenager for life-threatening upper body injuries following a reported shark attack at Woorim Beach at 4.45pm”.

It is believed the woman suffered serious injuries to her upper body.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson says the “female sustained life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries just after 5pm”.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
