Find care fast this flu season
Words by Nick Crockford

Peak flu season has arrived and FindCareFast can help Moreton Bay region residents stay well this winter.

Cases of the common cold, influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are rising and so is demand for healthcare points-of-call.

FindCareFast (www.FindcareFast.com.au) directs users to healthcare options if medical attention is needed but regular GPs/practices are booked out or closed.

The website connects users across Greater Brisbane to their local primary care, urgent care, emergency care, mental healthcare and allied health service providers.

These include Murrumba Downs Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, Morayfield Medicare UCC and Caboolture, Kallangur and Bribie Island Satellite Health Centres.

There has been close to 40,000 visits to FindCareFast since launching six months ago.

FindCareFast works with Symptom Checker and 13 HEALTH phoneline to help users decide which healthcare service option is right and where to go for treatment.

“Flu cases are on the rise in Queensland with almost 30,000 diagnosed in the last week of June,” a Brisbane North PHN and Metro North Health GP Liaison Officer program representative and practicing GP said.

“Flu symptoms can come on quickly and leave you feeling really unwell.

"If you’re not sure where to turn, FindCareFast is a helpful way to find the right local service without delay.”

When a usual doctor or practice is not available, some urgent care clinics, listed on FindCareFast, may be equipped to manage and treat respiratory illness.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics open extended hours, seven days a week, for treatment of urgent (same-day, episodic and non-life threatening) illnesses and conditions or, when needed, respiratory illness.

Flu vaccinations are free to all Queenslanders over six months of age. Book an immunisation appointment at your doctor, general practice or pharmacy.

FindCareFast can be accessed via desktop or mobile browser any time of day.
