Food and drinks returning to Suttons Beach

Food trucks will grace the shores of Suttons Beach while invasive testing into structural issues continues at the Pavilions.

Bookings for the two food trucks and one coffee vendor opened yesterday, with Moreton Bay Regional Council creating three trading spaces in response to community demand.

Mayor Peter Flannery says Suttons Beach is always abuzz with families and providing food trucks is a good temporary solution.

|“There are three designated sites and I hope to see lots of local operators applying for permits,” he says.|

Interim solution

“This is a temporary but important measure to maintain the vibrancy of that area, while we await the invasive testing reports into the Pavilions’ structure and plan the future of this popular local precinct.

“We’ve heard your very clear feedback that food and drink options should be available at Suttons Beach, but also heard concerns from some people that they don’t see food trucks as a long-term solution here.”

Mayor Flannery says a Council survey found 74 percent of people visited Suttons Beach in the past 12 months to buy food and drinks, and 77 percent wanted places to buy food and drinks in the future.

“Some people have told us they would like food trucks at the site while others have told us they don’t want food trucks long-term, preferring bricks and mortar operators.

“We hope these changes help our community to continue to enjoy Suttons Beach while longer-term planning for the site is undertaken.”

How to apply

Permit-holding participants in the Moreton Bay Pop Ups Program can now apply to book the sites between 6am–8pm, Monday to Sunday. There is no cost to book a site.
