Queensland Governor Dr Jeanette Young has personally thanked the 260 members of the Moreton Region SES Unit for their work during the flood emergency.

Dr Young visited the unit’s Murrumba Downs headquarters on Sunday.

Fifty volunteers and officers representing the seven groups which make up the unit were present.

She spoke to each asking of their experiences and their length of volunteering service.

The Governor commended the group overall and praised many volunteers personally.

She also thanked families for supporting the volunteers.

Her Excellency heard the unit had already completed nearly 2500 flood-related tasks and had clocked-up 5000 hours.

But for some of the volunteers present, the work was not over as they left to complete the last six outstanding requests for assistance.
