New traffic signals will be switched on in March as part of a $4 million upgrade at the busy intersection of Bribie Island Rd and Regina Ave in Ningi.

“The new signals will make it easier for motorists to get in and out of Regina Ave and for people to access the bus stop and shops,” State Member for Pumicestone Ali King said.

"We are also improving the footpaths and adding dedicated, on-road bike lanes through the intersection to so people can walk and cycle easier and safer.”

The state MP said more than 23,000 motorists currently use that section of Bribie Island Rd every day.

“This state-funded project complements the almost $60 million, joint-funded investment in upgraded intersections and duplication sections of Bribie Island Rd,” Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey added.

The Australian and Queensland governments have jointly spent $59.36 million to upgrade Caboolture-Bribie Island Rd.

Work to upgrade Old Toorbul Point Rd intersection was completed in September 2021.

Design work is underway on the duplication between Old Toorbul Point Rd and Saint Rd.

Planning has started on duplication between Hickey Rd to just west of King Johns Creek, including signalising the Hickey Rd intersection.

There is also $4 million state funding for a Business Case to finalise planning and start designing a new Bribie Island Bridge

$4 million was spent on rehabilitation and resurfacing between Peel Rd and Bestmann Rd (West) roundabout

And in July last year work was completed on the $2.5 million resurfacing and rehabilitation from east of the Bestmann Rd roundabout, to just before the Rose Ave intersection.
