Healthy and Active Moreton program returns

By Ella Bradford

The City of Moreton Bay’s Healthy and Active Moreton program is kicking off for the second half of the year.

Hundreds of free and affordable activities are on offer to encourage residents to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Regardless of age, ability, schedule and budget, there is something for everyone.

Activities on offer

Moreton Bay City Council Mayor Peter Flannery is inviting residents to get their hearts pumping with a range of fitness classes at parks and local facilities across the city.

“Spend quality time with the family and get healthy and active together with paddle boarding, archery, fishing, surfing and guided nature walks,” Mayor Flannery says.

“Or for a slower, gentler pace try our popular meditation classes or even yoga, tai chi and pilates.”

Yin Yoga and mindful art exercises are offered for women in Kallangur to incorporate movement, breathing exercises and meditation through art.

Ice baths have been added to the program this year as the newest wellness trend.

Mayor Flannery says it’s a great way to try new things.

“Activities are delivered by qualified and professional instructors in a safe, friendly and inclusive environment so it’s a great way try something new and meet new friends in your community,” he explains.
