"I had to sit down to double check!"
A Strathpine woman had to sit down and brace herself after discovering she had won $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The woman’s $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its was bought at IGA Strathpine, on Gympie Road, Strathpine.
When The Lott confirmed her prize, the woman said buying a Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket had become a part of her weekly routine.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet!” she said. “I just keep thinking, ‘Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Stuff like this doesn’t happen to me!’.
“I’ve been playing Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its tickets for years now. Enjoying a Crosswords ticket has become a part of my weekly routine – it’s a ritual now.
“When I scratched the winning ticket over the weekend, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
“At first, I thought I had only nine words, but after checking the ticket several times, I spotted another word, bringing the total to 10.
“I had to sit down to double check the ticket again. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I’m still struggling to process the news.
“The prize is going straight towards a new car. I’ve been having lots of issues with my current car, so I’m feeling very grateful.”
IGA Strathpine team member Stacey Johnston was thrilled to hear her outlet had sold another top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“Wow!” she said. “In November 2023, we sold a top prize-winning ticket worth $200,000. We seem to have a lot of luck with Instant Scratch-Its tickets.
“Next, we’d love to sell a division one winning ticket. We wish our winner all the best and hope she enjoys going shopping.”
In FY24, there were 143 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.12 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 26.4 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $249.65 million.
