Cloudland’s popular ‘Brunch with Bite’ Drag Brunch Club and its fabulous hosts are coming to Moreton Bay PrideFest for a special pop-up event.
Presented by Harry K Productions, the show promises to spice up your Saturday with a deliciously naughty and delightfully nice time.
Lulu LeMans, Brisbane’s ‘tallest fashion icon’ who also describes herself as ‘the embodiment of the colour purple’, will be hosting the event with BeBe Gunn.
They have been working together for three or four years now and if things don’t go to plan, Lulu says they will effortlessly swing into stand-up comedy mode.
Either way, brace yourself for a morning of laughs.
“It’s an 18+ event and it will be raucous, outrageous … it’s going to be ‘I can’t believe she just said that’,” Lulu says.
She’s looking forward to having fun with the crowd, her fellow queens and enjoying a few drinks and laughs along the way.
|“You won’t need to go to pilates that week because all your core exercise will come from that event,” she says.|
So, what does she love about performing?
“The amount of joy I am able to bring to other people … making people do things they don’t expect,” Lulu says.
“I’m a party clown with eyelashes.”
Be part of the action
Her performances are a chance for audiences to have a laugh, escape and enjoy themselves.
“So many people come to our events and say they haven’t had that much fun in years,” she says.
Lulu’s foray into drag was a spur-of-the-moment decision in 2018 at Brisbane Pride Fair Day, which she attended with her partner Elle de Flower.
The decision to buy a wig and go full drag was made after a bad day at work and was meant to be something to ‘tick off the bucket list’.
“I met so many rainbow families and businesses and got so much attention. I was hooked after that,” Lulu says.
|“It was one of the best days of my life and I haven’t looked back since then.”|
She says, it may be hard to believe, but she doesn’t wake up looking as gorgeous as she does on stage.
It takes a big effort – two to three hours of preening to look her best and quite a bit of coffee.
Her signature colour is purple, but she loves all the colours of the rainbow.
“If anyone else wears purple to PrideFest, I’m going to have them kicked out,” she says laughing.
As for her ensemble for the event, it’s a closely guarded secret – even more than Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.
“I’ll be wearing something special and new for PrideFest. You’ll have to wait and see,” Lulu says.
She can’t wait for everyone to experience the colour and joy of a PrideFest – with something on offer for all ages.
