Kenilworth Bakery to celebrate Bribie store opening with doughnut giveaway
Published 12:00pm 12 December 2023
Sweet tooths from across Moreton Bay will soon be able to sink their teeth into Kenilworth Bakery’s famous doughnuts with the Queensland bakehouse opening the doors to its Bribie Island store this week.
To celebrate the grand opening on December 15, the bakery will be giving away free doughnuts when the doors open at 8am.
The bakery will also be selling its range of popular baked goods including sourdough loaves, pies and sausage rolls, but will shut for the day once the display cases are empty.
With two stores already on the Sunshine Coast at Kenilworth and Mooloolaba, owner Jenna Sanders says she is excited to open her third bakery in another popular tourist spot.
“Our bakeries aren’t just a place to grab a pie or sausage roll, they’re a destination in their own right – a place people actually have on their South East Queensland bucket list to visit,” Jenna says.
“It’s a place where kids spend forever debating which flavour (or two) of doughnut they want, where adults savour that first bite into a crispy, chunky meat pie, and where caffeine lovers sip from our unique coffee doughnuts.
“With this in mind, it made perfect sense to look to Bribie for our latest store, given its popular appeal as a holiday and daytrip location.
“It’s also moving that little bit closer to Brisbane where we have a dedicated fan base.”
Popular items in the display cabinet sourdough bread baked on site, pies, sausage rolls and a variety of doughnuts with unique flavours including Gaytime, beesting, strawberry, chocolate, custard and cream, jam and cream, and Nutella and cream.
There are also plant-based and gluten-free products, as well as a special dog menu including dogaccinnos, doggie biscuits and doggie doughnuts.
All of Kenilworth’s products are made fresh each day, using recipes that have been developed and honed by the Sanders family across three generations of bakers.
Ultimate foodie challenge
Kenilworth Bakery is well known for its eating challenges including the 1kg doughnut and 1kg sausage roll challenge, which Jenna says will be available at the Bribie Island store.
“When people think of Kenilworth Bakery, they often think of our Insta-famous 1kg doughnuts, which we famously dare people to eat on their own,” Jenna explains.
“It’s such a fun challenge, and we get so many people who talk a big game about how no doughnut is going to get the better of them.
“But they quickly realise it’s much easier said than done, with only about 5 percent of people able to finish.”
Drop in
The new Kenilworth Bakery on Bribie Island is located at 3 First Ave, Bongaree.
The store will initially open Wednesday to Sunday from 8am-3pm.
