Lights plan for busy intersection
Design work is underway to install traffic lights at a key intersection at Elimbah.
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is planning to signalise the intersection of Beerburrum Rd, Twin View Rd and English St.
Traffic signals will control turning movements at the intersection, improving safety and helping all road users, says TMR.
The proposed project scope includes:
- a new signalised intersection including two new signalised pedestrian crossings
- dedicated right-turn lanes into Twin View Road English Street
- improvements to pedestrian footpaths and kerb ramps
- active transport improvements
- adjust existing and install new lighting.
Design is expected to be completed in late 2025. TMR says there will be further updates for stakeholders and the community when designs are completed.
This project is not associated with Bruce Highway Western Alternative planning (Stage 4).
The $5.9 million project has been funded under the Queensland Government’s Targeted Safety Program.
The program aims to improve road safety with high-benefit, cost-effective road treatments at known and potential crash locations.
