Four local MPs play key role in State Cabinet
Four Moreton Bay Region MPs have been reappointed to the Queensland State Cabinet.
Premier Anastacia Palaszczuk today announced Morayfield MP Mark Ryan would retain his role as Minister for Police and Corrective Services, and add Minister for Fire and Emergency Services to his duties.
New portfolios
Ferny Grove MP Mark Furner will take on a new role as Minister for Rural Communities, alongside his current duties as Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries.
Ms Palaszczuk yesterday announced Deputy Premier and Murrumba MP Steven Miles would relinquish his role as Health Minister to take on state development, local government, infrastructure and planning.
Stepping into the Health portfolio will be Member for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath, who gives up her role as Attorney General.
Humbled by opportunity
Ms D’Ath says she is looking forward to supporting health workers as they continued to support Queenslanders.
“I am humbled to be given the opportunity to continue the great work of Steven Miles…as Health Minister and the Palaszczuk Government’s strong investment in our health system,” she says.
Great honour
Mr Miles says it was a great honour to work alongside Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young.
“Together with the Premier and Director-General Dr John Wakefield we have put the health and lives of Queenslanders first,” he says.
“And because of the efforts of all Queenslanders it has worked.”
Mr Miles says he is excited to take on the challenge of his new portfolios and play a greater role in the Government’s economic response.
“We will continue to stimulate and support the economy now, while investing in the skills, infrastructure and industries needed for a prosperous future.”
