The Pastel Society of Australia Inc (PSA) is proud to announce the return of its biannual Master and Accomplished Pastellists exhibition.
The exhibition will be held at the Old Fire Station Gallery at Redcliffe on Saturday, November 4.
PSA member and pastellist Tricia Taylor says this pastel exhibition will be the first in two years.
“The PSA Master Pastellist exhibition has been running every two years since 2017. So, this will be our fourth,” Tricia says.
“The Pastel Society of Australia was formed in 1985 and has annual exhibitions for all members each year, but this exhibition is specifically for the master and accomplished members of our society.
“There will be more than 40 artworks on display from 19 master and accomplished pastel artists from across Australia, as well as one international artist from New Zealand. A variety of genres from landscapes and portraits to abstract are included in the display.”
The Pastel Society of Australia Inc was founded in 1985 by John and Ivy Jeffery.
With a dream to create a society that promoted and used pastels and encouraged artists – from beginners to masters alike – to exhibit, learn and share the love of the medium; the society has come a long way since then.
“It has grown to more than 350 members across Australia and has multiple exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations throughout the year, both online and on physical display,” Tricia says.
“In 2018 and 2022, the PSA held the ‘Pastel Expo’ which included trade shows, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and more than 160 artists with 22 tutors coming together to share their love of pastels. John and Ivy’s dream has been fulfilled.
“The opportunity for the local community and artists to see the masters of this medium display their work is wonderful.
“It is rare to see so many quality pastel paintings in one place. The exhibition promotes the potential of pastels as an art medium.
“We also appreciate the opportunity for our artists to have a platform to show their skills and beautiful artworks in a quality gallery.”
