Landmark for huge hospital upgrade
Caboolture Hospital’s new emergency department - part of a $399.5 million upgrade program - has opened for patients this morning.
Acting Executive Director Adjunct Professor Alanna Geary said the emergency department has moved to a new home in the clinical services building.
“Emergency patients should now come to the front of the new clinical services building,” she said.
“If arriving by car, use the main entry via the traffic lights on McKean St and follow the road to the right to find the new drop-off area.

“There is also pedestrian access from McKean St (opposite St Columbans College).
“I’m very excited this key piece of the hospital redevelopment project is now open for patients.”
The new emergency department is more than three times larger than before.
The hospital now has a 12-bay paediatric Emergency Department, more medical imaging facilities, an additional resuscitation bay for critically unwell patients, ophthalmology room, healing courtyard and café opening soon.
Construction work continues to finalise the hospital’s new main entry, including access from the new multi-storey car park. Follow directional signage and instruction from staff.
Work will start early in the New Year to refurbish the former emergency department area for other clinical services, including cancer care.
