The wait is over, with Moreton Bay's very own Monopoly board officially unveiled this morning, revealing which local landmarks have landed the most coveted spots in the classic game.

A crowd gathered at Redcliffe Jetty for the launch of Monopoly: Moreton Bay Edition, with organisers saying it was the biggest turnout they had ever seen for a board unveiling.

And it was a fitting location for the big reveal, with Redcliffe Jetty claiming one of the two prestigious dark blue squares alongside Moreton Island.

The new edition swaps the traditional London streets for 22 familiar landmarks, attractions, events and businesses from across the City of Moreton Bay.

Among them are Suttons Beach, Bee Gees Way, Mount Mee, Bongaree Jetty and the Tangalooma Wrecks, while popular events including Redcliffe Kitefest, the Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run and Abbey Medieval Festival have also earned a place.

Lake Samsonvale, which Moreton Daily revealed ahead of the launch, shares the brown squares with D'Aguilar National Park.

Even the traditional railway stations have been given a local twist, replaced by Hornibrook Bridge, Moreton Bay Cycleway, Bribie Island Bridge and Redcliffe Parade.

The board was developed by Winning Moves under licence from Hasbro, following research and community consultation to identify the places that best represent Moreton Bay.

Winning Moves Head of Partnerships Australia and New Zealand Dale Hackett previously told Moreton Daily the city had missed out when the Brisbane edition was released.

"Moreton Bay was a little hard done by when we did Brisbane a few years back," he said.

At the launch, Dale said the company had received constant suggestions for a Moreton Bay board ever since.

“About time we got our act together and put it together for them,” he said.

The company sought suggestions from councils, tourism organisations and residents, including through social media, before settling on the final line-up.

Dale said every area was different and deserved to be celebrated in its own way, and the board was a way of immortalising Moreton Bay.

His favourite reveal of the day? “Redcliffe Jetty, for sure,” he said. “It’s a gorgeous spot.”

Sesame Lane’s Kerri Smith said the business was excited to be part of the board.

“Sesame Lane is an iconic brand within the city, as is the Monopoly board across the world,” she said.

State Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley said the board put Redcliffe and the City of Moreton Bay on the global stage.

“To actually have Redcliffe and the City of Moreton Bay in potentially 1 billion homes around the world is very exciting, obviously for our tourist industry, for our local and big business,” she said.

“I’m just so delighted that Redcliffe features.”

The company sought suggestions from councils, tourism organisations and residents, including through social media, before settling on the final line-up.
