Lake Samsonvale has landed on the new Monopoly: Moreton Bay Edition board, with Moreton Daily exclusively revealing one of the local landmarks featured in the much-loved game.

The popular destination is among the locations chosen for the special edition, which officially launches tomorrow (November 4), bringing a distinctly local flavour to the classic property-trading game.

Developed by Winning Moves under licence from Hasbro, the new edition swaps Monopoly's traditional properties for familiar places across the City of Moreton Bay, celebrating the attractions, events and community favourites that give the area its character.

Winning Moves Head of Partnerships Australia and New Zealand Dale Hackett spoke exclusively with Moreton Daily ahead of the launch, revealing how the area came to have its own edition.

Dale joked that Moreton Bay had been a little overlooked when the Brisbane edition was released.

"Moreton Bay was a little hard done by when we did Brisbane a few years back," he said.

The area remained on the company's radar, with suggestions that it deserved a Monopoly board of its own.

Winning Moves releases up to four editions across Australia and New Zealand each year, with extensive research and community consultation going into selecting the properties.

Dale said the team sought input from councils, tourism organisations and residents, including through social media campaigns, to identify the places that best represented each area.

The selection process was one of the longest parts of developing a local edition, with the company balancing iconic landmarks against places residents would expect to see.

Dale described the Moreton Bay edition as one of the best-looking boards the company had designed recently.

The full line-up of properties will be unveiled at Redcliffe Jetty tomorrow (November 4), with a giant 5m x 5m Monopoly board taking centre stage.

Mr Monopoly will join the celebrations from 10am, with photo opportunities and visitors invited to walk around the oversized board.

Each property will be announced individually, building up to the reveal of the coveted Mayfair square.

Dale said the launch would give each location its moment in the spotlight, while bringing the community together to celebrate the area.

“Monopoly: Moreton Bay Edition is a fantastic way to celebrate the region and the places that make it special. Moreton Bay has a character all its own, and we’re excited to bring that local spirit to a much-loved game, giving residents and visitors a fun new way to connect with the region.”

Earlier this year, Moreton Daily reported on plans for the local Monopoly edition, when residents were invited to nominate their favourite landmarks and community hotspots for inclusion on the board.

Residents are invited to come along and discover which other local favourites have made it onto the board.

Monopoly: Moreton Bay Edition will be available to purchase from a pop-up store at the launch, the Visitor Information Centre, JB Hi-Fi, Mr Toys stores and selected local retailers.
