Mozzie treatments today, tomorrow

Moreton Bay City Council’s mosquito management team will be in the air today and tomorrow, targeting breeding sites in a bid to bring down mozzie numbers.

Aerial mosquito treatment will be conducted across saltmarsh mosquito breeding areas in and around the city’s southern areas today and will continue across the northern areas on Saturday.

Council’s officers are continuing to conduct treatments which target adult mosquitoes in a bid to reduce the impact on residents.

Southern areas to be covered include Rothwell, Clontarf, Kippa-Ring, Griffin, Mango Hill, Lawnton and Deception Bay.

Northern areas to be treated include Uhlmann Rd, Burpengary East, Beachmere, Ningi, Donnybrook, Toorbul, Elimbah and Bribie Island.

How you can help

Residents can help reduce mosquito numbers by:

* Emptying containers that may hold rainwater

* Changing water in bird baths and pet bowls regularly

* Keeping their swimming pools chlorinated

* Using insect repellent when they are outdoors
