New highway route locked in

The Bruce Highway Western Alternative (BHWA) route from Moorina to Narangba has now been “protected”.

It means the corridor for Stage Two of the 50km route has been secured for the future state-controlled road from Beerburrum to Bald Hills.

Transport and Main Roads (TMR) called it a “significant milestone” after gazetting Stage One from Moodlu to Moorina.

Early planning for Stage Three, between Narangba and Bald Hills and Stage Four, from Beerburrum to Moodlu, has now started.

TMR says “alignment options in these areas are limited due to significant challenges and complexities. Technical investigations will need to continue for several months.

The Bruce Highway Western Alternative will, when complete, be 50kms long.

“TMR will consult with the community and key stakeholders to seek feedback prior to determining a preferred alignment and corridor requirements.”

Early feedback on Stages Three and Four can be made on TMR’s consultation page, by phone 1800 955 799 or email NCR_Planning_Comms@tmr.qld.gov.au

When completed the BHWA will connect north Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, via Moreton Bay Region, easing congestion and supporting future growth.

Funding is not currently allocated beyond early planning. Construction is likely to be some years away.
