New seats for Freshwater Creek parks

Seating, a new shelter and picnic table and landscaping are among the works planned as part of an upgrade to a series of parks at Kallangur.

The $370,000 makeover will take place at various points along the Freshwater Creek corridor, between Kingfisher Reserve and Freshwater Park.

Along with the new park furniture, more than 300m2 of concrete footpath will be replaced with wider, coloured paths.

Increasing park use

An officers’ report to Council says the project aims to upgrade facilities along the corridor including play, picnic, open space and civic amenities and improve footpath connections behind Donnegal Dve and McNeil Rd to increase park use.

In total seven new seats will be installed along the corridor, as well as more than 1000 new plants and 616m2 of new turf.

Moreton Bay Regional Council has awarded the contract for the work to the Landscape Construction Company, which was previously responsible for work at the Pine Rivers Park Playground and Scarborough Beach Park.

Council received $300,000 from the State Government for the project, with work to begin in August.
