New shopping centre plans

A new shopping centre is being proposed for one of the fastest growing areas of Moreton Bay region.

Plans for a centre - anchored by Coles – at 192-202 Oakey Flat Rd, Morayfield are currently with Moreton Bay City Council.

The development application includes additional retail, commercial and medical tenancies, a service station and food and drink outlet.

The DA, for the three-hectare site which also fronts on to Clark Rd, includes “provision for future expansion" on the site.

“At Coles we are constantly evaluating our store network to ensure we are delivering the best shopping experience for our customers, and as part of that process we are excited about a possible new development for the Morayfield community,” a Coles spokesperson said.

“We’ll be sure to keep the community informed as our plans for this development progress.”

There are currently houses and outbuildings on the block.

Development plans have also been lodged for a two-hectare site opposite the proposed Coles shopping centre.

An application has been submitted to Moreton Bay City Council for 69 units at 205 Oakey Flat Rd, Morayfield.

The proposal includes nine variations of one and two-bedroom single-storey units with 70 resident parking spaces and 29 for visitors.
