A new shopping centre will be built north of Caboolture, if development plans are given the green light.
Moreton Bay City Council has received an application for the centre at 848-858 and 860-864 Beerburrum Rd and 30 Soldier Rd, Elimbah.
Proposals are for a 2000sqm supermarket to anchor the centre, with six “speciality tenancies”, four food and beverage tenancies, as well as a central mall.
The application for Rose Creek Village shows 191 car and 20 bicycle parking spaces, with the main access left-in and left-out from Beerburrum Rd.
Hours of operation would be 6am-9pm Monday to Sunday, according to the application which is available on Council’s website.
Identified gap
If approved, the development area would cover just under half the 8.82-ha site with a new bus stop on Beerburrum Rd and road link to Soldier Rd.
The development application says the shopping centre will “diversify the limited retail offerings currently provided for in the Elimbah area”.
It adds: “(The shopping centre) will fill an identified existing gap in the market.”
The proposal’s community engagement report shows most people are in favour of the shopping centre plans.
Some called for a major supermarket chain to anchor the development, others call for takeaways, a bakery and a coffee shop.
Others welcomed the chance to shop closer to home and more local jobs, while others hope it will bring better public transport.
