Caboolture Community Choir is putting on another free concert to mark the end of a special project.
The concert will be at Morayfield Community Hall, at 298 Morayfield Rd, on Saturday September 26, from 2pm.
A free morning tea is to be served after the concert which will feature Janet Stebbins on bass guitar, drums and piano with 20 singers.
All joined for a 10-week Singing for Wellbeing Project and will perform for an audience of up to 100 people.
Tickets are free and bookings are required for catering purposes. Book through trybooking.com/DPKDF.
The Choir Project, supported by an anonymous donation from a mental health professional, was designed to highlight the benefits of singing for well being.
Singing reduces the stress hormone, cortisol, helps with pain management, strengthens lungs, and helps build neural pathways that improve memory and speech.
Residents who love to sing but cannot commit to regular choir membership, were invited to attend. Chris Brindley has been the project’s temporary musical director.
“It’s been wonderful to see the choir grow in confidence and musical ability over the past few months,” Chris said.
“Our performances have been warmly received, but just as importantly, there’s a real sense of
enthusiasm and encouragement within the group.
“The response at the recent Community Choir Open Mic was a great boost, and I’m looking forward to sharing what we’ve been working on with the community at our concert on September 26.”
At the concert, those in the audience will be invited to join songs from favourites to new pieces such as Let’s Sing, Little Blue, Easy on Me and the Beatles’ Hey Jude.
Caboolture Community Choir regularly performs at aged care homes, shopping centres and community functions.
