Development plans have been drawn up for a new cancer care centre on vacant land between Caboolture Hospital and Central Lakes Shopping Centre.

Caboolture Cancer Care Centre would include “medical oncology (chemotherapy), radium, CT (scanning), a compounding pharmacy for patients using the facility and clinical trials”.

A development application submitted to Moreton Bay Regional Council shows it would have the equivalent of close to 14 full-time staff.

This would include six radiation therapists, four nurses, two admin staff, and part-time positions for radiation oncologist, medical oncologist and medical physicist.

The application by Norfolk Estates and Central Lakes Shopping Centre expects a maximum 10 patients on-site at any one time.

Caboolture Cancer Care Centre would provide 20 car parks and six bicycle spaces and be open 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday with an emergency service 9am-noon on Saturdays, if required.

Plans show the new health facility would be a single-storey building fronting on to both McKean St and Pettigrew St.
