Southern Cross swimmers were on the medal podium three times at this month’s Vorgee Brisbane Senior Metropolitan Championships.

Iona Hearsum, pictured above, won bronze in the 50m backstroke, clocking 33.16 seconds and 200m backstroke in 2 minutes 44.08 seconds.

Lucas Want also won bronze after finishing third in the 200m individual medley in 2:23.48.

Completing Southern Cross Swimming Club’s team of 13 were Alicia Ayala-Zessin, Sami Chandler, Alia De Leeeuw, Katelyn Engst, Kai Harris, Spencer Harrold, Amelie Hoefel, Barry Pope, Lucas Proenca-Faulkner, Ella Sweeney and Emily Yates.

Together they recorded 24 personal best times, had 14 finalists in the top 10 and 11 in the top 20.

The three-day senior mets at Brisbane Aquatic Centre were good preparation heading into the Brisbane Junior Metropolitan Championship in April.
