Police round-up: drivers fined in school zone blitz

Seven motorists have been fined after being caught speeding through a school zone at Strathpine on Wednesday.

The Pine Rivers Highway Patrol issued the infringement notices for speeding during drop off times on September 14.

Among those caught were a 42-year-old woman from Hendra driving at 63kmh in the school zone, and a 49-year-old Cashmere man travelling at 62kmh in the 40kmh zone.

Both drivers were fined $646 and received four demerit points.

A police spokeswoman says officers will be enforcing school zone speed limits across the district.

“Please slow down in the school zones – our kids depend on it,” she said.
