Potters spinning creativity

Whimsical and quirky pieces dominate this year’s Redcliffe Pottery Group Clay on Display exhibition.

Vice president Cristina Austin says while it includes functional pieces, the creativity of members shines through.

“This year rather than lots of pots, we have lots of quirky pieces and really big pieces,” Cristina says.

“We have a couple of throwers who know how to throw big and that’s given all the members something to aim for.”

Cristina says COVID restrictions have prompted people to unleash their creativity.

“We’ve had such an influx of new members,” she says.

“And there’s been more and more guys joining too.”

Clay on Display is in the foyer of the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre until October 24.

The centre is open noon-4pm Tuesday-Friday and 90 minutes prior to performances.
