Records tumble at 40th Jetty 2 Jetty

Record entries and crowds took part in the 40th annual Jetty 2 Jetty - Moreton Bay’s biggest running festival - on Sunday.

The United Airlines Jetty 2 Jetty Marathon attracted 6000 participants from 12 countries and every Australian State/Territory.

All a far cry from the small community fun run started in 1986 by Moreton Bay Road Runners who are still involved today.

Sunday saw a full marathon, half marathon, 10km, 10km wheelchair race, 5km and 3km distances, bringing together elite athletes, weekend runners, families and first-timers.

Nicholas Free and Misty Tucket won the men’s and women’s marathon in the first year it has been open to the public. The inaugural 2025 marathon was by invitation.

As part of United Airlines' partnership, the men's and women's marathon winners each received return flights to San Francisco and $1000 prize money.

“Jetty 2 Jetty has grown into much more than a fun run,” Tourism and Events Moreton Bay CEO Luke Edwards said.

“The addition of the marathon has elevated the event nationally. It's a celebration of our community, lifestyle and region."

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said Jetty 2 Jetty has become “one of Moreton Bay’s signature events”.

He said it has grown “while staying true to what makes it so special - community spirit and an incredible waterfront setting that welcomes everyone, regardless of age or ability."
