A Redcliffe shopper has checked their ticket – three weeks after the draw - and discovered they won $1 million win in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto.
The player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4315, on August 23 and took home the seven-figure sum.
The winning entry was not registered to a player card, so The Lott had no way of notifying the winner of their life-changing win.
However, how the winner plans to spend their windfall will remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain anonymous and celebrate in private.
The winning ticket was bought at Midway News, on Oxley Avenue. Owner Deepak Rawat said he is glad the winner has come forward to claim their prize.
“We couldn’t believe the news when we found out we’d sold a division one winning entry in a recent Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw,” he said.
“It’s a good feeling to sell a division one winning ticket and our customers have been so happy to hear the winning news when they visit us in-store.
“The last time we sold a major winning ticket was last year when one of our customers took home a $50,000 top prize win on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“On behalf of the entire Midway News team, we wish our winner all the best with their prize and hope their dreams come true.”
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said there was “no doubt” the winner’s head was spinning when they realised they’d receive $1 million in their bank account.
“Other division one winners regularly tell us they use their prizes to buy their dream home, help their nearest and dearest and enjoy a long-overdue holiday,” she said.
“However our winner chooses to use their prize, we hope they enjoy their winning feeling as long as they can!”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4315 on August 23, 2023 were 13, 9, 14, 7, 20 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 33 and 27.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4315 – one in Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 293 so far in 2023, including 75 won by Golden Casket customers.
In FY23, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 87 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 93 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $93 million.
