Region’s top pick for jobseekers
Job vacancies at Aldi were by far the most popular on Moreton Bay Jobs – a free employment website run by Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay.
Figures show an advertisement for casual Pick Packers at Aldi in Brendale had twice the engagement and page impressions of any other ad in the 2019-20 financial year.
Second highest engagement was for a part-time office administrator role in Redcliffe. For page impressions it was for casual harvest workers in Caboolture.
Third highest engagement went to an ad for full-time Energex Apprenticeships at Caboolture, which was also third for page impressions.
Just the job
“The website is certainly doing the job it set out to do,” says Nette Griggs, director of Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay.
Moreton Bay Jobs was launched in January 2019 to link businesses in the region looking for staff with local job seekers.
It is a free service for job seekers and employers, enabling businesses to post vacant positions and job seekers can apply for positions through the website.
It is seen as being a key component for the Moreton Bay Region’s recovery from COVID-19.
In the last financial year the website had 164,000 users and almost 950,000 page impressions.
The number of people visiting the Moreton Bay Jobs website has increased by 297 per cent –from 4760 in April 2019 to 18,882 in April 2020.
Fine figures
Page views have increased by 269 per cent. Of the jobs posted on Facebook, there was a unique user engagement increase of 210 per cent in April.
“It’s not even 18 months old and these numbers are already impressive. You can see the trajectory has been increasing consistently,” Nette says.
“Much of the increase is new people looking at it. They’re unemployed people but also people looking for opportunities in the region.
“Overall, we are seeing a shift from lower skills/lower paid jobs to more highly-skilled/professional vacancies.”
