Register now for youth jobs expo
More than 300 young people are expected to attend a youth-focused jobs expo which will offer real interviews, real job opportunities, and real support for those ready to step into the workforce next month.
Youth Development Foundation’s third annual Youth Job Meet will be held at Pine Rivers Showgrounds on August 28 from 10am-2pm.
The Foundation’s Operations Manager Ramona Wise says the event’s tailored and supportive approach sets it apart from other jobs expos.
“We work with many young people who face barriers to employment — things like lack of ID, no interview clothing, low confidence, or just not knowing where to start,” she explains.
“Youth Job Meet is about breaking those barriers down. We create a space where employers genuinely want to meet these young people, and where participants feel supported and prepared.”
In the lead-up to the event, participants will have access to pre-employment workshops, resume building, mock interviews, and even help with ID and clothing - with support from like YMCA Op Shop and local barbers.
For employers, the benefits go beyond filling vacancies.
“This is a chance for businesses to see the untapped potential in our region’s youth,” Ramona adds.
“They’re not just resumes. These are motivated, community-minded young people who are ready to learn, grow and contribute.”
Businesses that attend will receive free registration, light refreshments, promotion across Youth Development Foundation’s platforms and access to an information session about apprenticeship and wage subsidy funding.
