Thousands of people will gather at cenotaphs and war memorials across Moreton Bay on Tuesday to pay their respects on Remembrance Day.
Flowers and wreaths will be laid 12 ceremonies before a minute’s silence is held at 11am to reflect on the sacrifices made.
This time signifies on November 11, 1918, when the World War I guns fell silent, after more than four years’ fighting.
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month then became universally associated with remembering those who died in that war.
After World War II, the Australian and British governments changed the name to Remembrance Day to better reflect those who died in service.
