Roar's special offer to young fans

Brisbane Roar is looking to convert superb away form into precious home points this weekend – and has a special offer for its young fans.

Juniors can get in for just $5 to see the Roar, victorious its last three matches, all in NSW, face Wellington Phoenix at Moreton Daily Stadium (5.05pm kick off). Tickets available here: bit.ly/2RMIDr9

Those nine points have moved Roar up to seventh on the ladder, six points behind leaders Melbourne City and with games in hand on all above them.

Four-some Roar

After Roar crushed third-placed Central Coast Mariners 4-0 on Wednesday, coach Warren Moon heaped praise on former Moreton Bay United Jets player Joey Champness.

Champness, who grew up in Warner and played for Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE) before joining Jets, was on the scoresheet at Mariners.

“Joey is a player I wanted at this club the moment I got the job,” says Moon, “He was almost the first person I called to try to bring back to Brisbane Roar.

“In my opinion we (Roar) should never have let him go, but we got him back.

“Obviously, he had the break away from the game. He is getting better every week, but he still has more to give and more to do.

“But I have full belief in him as a player and I know he can get better."

Moon also believes the 24 year old can get even better.

"Absolutely (he is unique as a player),” says Moon, a former Peninsula Power player and coach, “the ability to run with the ball and go both ways, he adds that x-factor.

Play to strengths

“We are just going to roll with it, we are not going to stop him. We are going to try to feed him where we can and play to his strengths.

“Hopefully he progresses and develops as a player.”

Roar have successive midweek fixtures next month with Western United the visitors on Wednesday May 5 and Central Coast on May 12, both kicking off at 7.05pm. For tickets visit brisbaneroar.com.au
