Moreton Bay’s first dirt jump now open

A new $130,000 dirt jump - the first in Moreton Bay - has officially opened, after riders helped design and build the track.
Riders joined experts from Trailworx for a track-building workshop in July, bringing their shared vision to life in Dayboro.
It followed a design workshop in October last year which paved the way for the new track at Bill Rowe Park, in McKenzie St.
Such collaborations are commonplace among the dirt jump community, according to Mayor Peter Flannery.
“They’ve had a hand in creating safe tracks that cater to riders of all levels and I know they
will take pride in ensuring they continue to be well maintained,” the Mayor said.
“Our staff and industry experts will also monitor the tracks to ensure they remain safe.
“There’s a beginner-friendly ‘learn to jump’ line with return track, intermediate and advanced jump line, and a variety of features including rollers, tabletops, berms, transitions and step-
ups.
“We’ve also provided sandstone block seating at the staging area and a water bubbler for riders and spectators.
“We know tracks built without technical guidance or approval can create safety risks, disturb
local wildlife, and impact nearby residents.
“That’s why we’ve worked with riders and the experts to create a first for our City.”
Mayor Flannery said the Dayboro Dirt Jump could be replicated elsewhere in City of Moreton Bay.
Cr Ellie Smith (Div 11) said: “What started with unauthorised and unsafe dirt jumps in a local creek inspired this trial project that will give riders a space to take real ownership over.
“Thank you to those residents and riders who engaged in community consultation on this
project, worked on the design and have now helped us deliver it.”
