Safety upgrades on major road

A major safety upgrade is about to get underway on Anzac Ave in Kallangur.

The $540,000 State Government project at Duffield Rd will improve traffic flow and increase safety at the busy intersection.

Works will focus on updating the traffic signals to better manage the volume of vehicles turning into Duffield Rd.

The project, funded through the Targeted Road Safety Program, also includes an extension of the right-turn lane, creating more space for drivers to safely wait before for their turn.

Construction is expected to start in the coming weeks and expected to take around two months to complete.

To minimize disruptions to nearby businesses, residents, and motorists, the majority of the work will be done at night.

"It's fantastic to see these important safety upgrades about to get underway on Anzac Ave,” Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said.

"We've seen a huge growth in the number of cars using Anzac Ave every day and this will ensure drivers not only have a quick journey but a safe one as well.

"Once complete, this busy intersection will be safer for the average 24,082 vehicles travelling through each day, delivering better services for Queenslanders".

A $2 million safety improvements were completed at the intersection of Anzac Ave and Victoria Ave in August 2022.

That followed $532,000 of safety works at the intersection of Anzac Ave and Silvyn St completed in September 2021.
