Santa convoy coming to Newport

Keep an eye out for Santa, when he travels through the streets of Newport on the Redcliffe peninsula this Sunday, December 18.
The Santa Convoy, run by volunteers from the Newport Neighbourhood Watch group, is in its third year and will start from the new Newport Marketplace centre at 3pm.
From there, Santa will travel through a number of streets in Newport before he heads back to the North Pole at 5pm.
The event aims to bring some holiday joy, all while encouraging neighbours to come together.
Last year, there were a number of streets where residents came together to host street barbecues and picnics while children eagerly awaited Santa's arrival.
Spokesman Matt Chapman says Santa will be escorted by Queensland Police this year.
“Provided there are no emergencies to attend, a fire truck will also be involved,” he says.
“This year we will start the parade at the brand new Newport Marketplace. Giving spectators the ability to grab a photo of Santa before the parade starts at 3pm.”
