See Kaufusi in red and white

Dolphins NRL enforcer Felise Kaufusi will get some much-needed game time in the red and white this weekend, when he runs out for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Hostplus Cup.

The NRL team is enjoying a bye this week, so Kaufusi has an opportunity to gauge his match fitness wearing the No.11 for the Redcliffe Dolphins against Norths Devils at Redcliffe’s Kayo Stadium on Saturday, June 17 (kick-off 5pm).

The tough second rower is poised to make his return to the NRL side in Round 17 against Parramatta Eels at Sunshine Coast Stadium on June 24 (kick-off 3pm), after a three-week suspension.

Also joining him in the Hostplus Cup side this weekend is centre Tesi Niu, who is keen to get some ‘match practice’.

The inclusion of the NRL pair will bring about some excitement for the game, which is already a fierce local derby between last year’s Hostplus Cup grand finalists.

The Dolphins head into Round 13 third on the ladder, behind Burleigh Bears (second) and Souths Logan Magpies (first). Norths are 12th on the ladder.

It follows two good rounds for Redcliffe with big wins against Brisbane Tigers (Round 13, 38-22) and Western Clydesdales (Round 12, 44-12).

During last week’s game, there were tries to Brenton Baira (2), Max Plath, Brayden McGrady, Ayden Hoad and Sheldon Pitama. Cody Hunter kicked seven goals.

While the Dolphins were in front 26-22, the game was in the balance with 10 minutes to go, when tries to Brenton Baira and Sheldon Pitama sealed the win.
