Setting sail for special regatta
Dozens of boats will line-up at Humpybong Yacht Club’s Annual Women and Girls’ Sailing Regatta next weekend.
The waters off Woody Point will host the two-day event for female skippers (male crew members permitted) on May 27-28.

It is the only women and girls' regatta for off-the-beach classes in South-East Queensland and includes a junior division.
Seven to 70
The regatta aims to encourage and provide an opportunity for female sailors of all ages and skill levels, to improve their skills and enjoy sailing.
“We are catering for female sailors of all ages from seven to 70-plus,” regatta spokeswoman Kate Slade said.
“We hope the regatta will encourage and attract many women from beginner level to experienced sailors at competition level, to take part in an event exclusively for them.
“We have many excellent female sailors throughout Queensland and interstate.
“It is time they had a regatta in Bramble Bay to call their own to encourage, support and promote female sailing.”
Officials include Grace Murphy as the race officer, with Annie Eastgate and Erin Cowley as regatta coaches.
Grace Murphy is the Queensland State Race Officer, a Skud 18 Sailor and Southport Yacht Club Academy Coordinator, youth coach and regatta coach.
National coach
Annie Eastgate an international laser sailor, Queensland Laser Association Coach, Royal Queensland Youth Coach and national regatta coach.
Erin Cowley is also an international laser sailor, Royal Queensland Youth Coach, teams racing coach and umpire.
