Get ready to sip on some fine shiraz while enjoying smooth jazz tunes at the upcoming Jazz & Shiraz Newport event next month.
The free event is at Newport Park, Spinnaker Blvd Newport on June 3, from 1-5pm.
There will be something for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or simply someone who enjoys a glass of red.
Pull up a chair, unfold your picnic rug and unwind while listening to the live performances on the Belle Property Newport Main Stage from talented local musicians. You can even join in giant games.
There will be a licensed bar, selling wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks; and food trucks with woodfired pizza, gourmet donuts, loaded potatoes, cheese platters, coffee and more.
Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Sandra Ruck (Div 5) says she’ll be there with bells on.
“I hope to see everyone around the Peninsula, Rothwell, and Deception Bay heading to Newport Park for a bit of a celebration of the finer things in life,” she says.
“Not only is this a free event, which is so important as living costs increase, but it’s a celebration of local musical talents that we’re showcasing for you to enjoy.
“I think with the weather cooling down it’s the perfect time to enjoy a glass of red (or white) and music in our neighbourhood, just bring a chair along and enjoy.
“It is a licensed event, it’s not BYO. So, come on down and help us get this party started.”
Big calendar of events
Mayor Peter Flannery says Council is delivering a whopping 43 free community events this financial in partnership with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT).
“Jazz & Shiraz is a new concept we’re trialling this year, so please come along and let us know what you think of the event format,” he says.
“We heard loud and clear that locals wanted more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods, so we delivered, and the entire calendar has been an overwhelming success this year in terms of turnout.
“In fact, there’s been a Council-sponsored party somewhere in Moreton Bay almost every week, thanks to the new jam-packed events calendar we launched last financial year.
“I know more and more locals, especially young families, are looking for free and affordable entertainment closer to home - so this will be one of our big considerations in next month’s Budget.”
Jazz and Shiraz Newport is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and supported by strategic sponsors Moreton Alert, Ausbuild, UniSC, Brisbane Whale Watching, Village Motors and Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club.
Main Stage sponsor: Belle Property Newport. Gold sponsors: Crew Legal, State Member for Redcliffe Hon Yvette D'Ath MP and Sesame Lane Care & Kindergarten. Community Sponsors: Tempest Restaurant, Orange Sherbet, Dynamic Bradview Roofing and Chrysalis Dental Care.
