Sneak peek: Hello, Ruby Tuesday

Excitement is building ahead of the opening of a new café at Burpengary East.

Ruby Tuesday is the latest offering from Candice Kiss, owner of two popular Moreton Bay venues - Caboolture’s Gather and Feast and Bribie’s Annie Lane.

The café at 115-117 Buckley Rd, Burpengary East, will open its doors for the first time on Sunday, February 16, from 7am-1pm.

Candice gave Moreton Daily a sneak peek ahead of the grand opening.

She says Ruby Tuesday will have its own personality and style, and won’t simply mirror what she has created at her other two cafes.

“Everyone’s expecting us to be the same. This is a completely different business. We will still do all-day brunch and there will be the same quality, the same standard but the meals will be more refined, a lot more made in-house, and with a really big focus on beautiful produce on a plate,” Candice explains.

“We’ve got lots of local produce already organised, we are still looking for more.”

Candice says Burpengary East is the perfect location for Ruby Tuesday, which will be open from 6am-2pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm on weekends.

“We chose Burpengary East because there is a massive gap in the market. There’s nothing this side of the highway, no specialty coffee and we just wanted to bring an option to the community … something a little bit healthy, bright and vibrant,” she explains.

What can diners expect?

“We’ll have a range of freshly made baked goods every day. We will obviously have specialty coffee (Tim Adams) and cold brew coffee,” Candice says.

“We’ve got our super dooper cool canning machine … it’s personalised cans with iced coffee, Matchas and that sort of thing. You can take them away, they don’t spill in the car.

“We also have our own soft serve (ice cream) that’s going in these, so it’s going to be the most decadent iced coffee you’ve probably ever had.

“The menu is all-day brunch … lots of gluten-free, some vegan options … very health-conscious. The chef is making every single little item we have from scratch … down to our own oils. Everything is being made in-house except our bread.

“The chef is making all of his own fermentation, so crouts and things to go on the side or in meals just for good gut health. That will also be shown in a lot of the drinks we have. We’ve got a really large range of teas that are designed by a naturopath.

“In saying that, we’ve got all these beautiful, healthy options and it’s just about clean eating, but we also will still have plenty of things that are decadent and over-the-top and treat-yourself kind of weekend deals.

“There’s definitely going to be something for everyone.”

The décor is a breath of fresh air, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

“We wanted things to look like Palm Beach, Miami sort of vibe and then we ended up twisting Palm Beach with the Amalfi Coast. It’s kind of mashed together, so we’re going to have to call it our own style,” Candice explains.

“It’s super fun, colourful. It’s light, it’s bright, very fresh which will complement the freshness of the food.”

And the name, Ruby Tuesday, is a loving nod to The Rolling Stones’ song by the same title.

“I absolutely love music and I love The Rolling Stones,” she says.
