Treasure trove of pre-loved goodies
Whether you’re looking to revamp your wardrobe or spruce up your home on a budget, there are plenty of bargains waiting to be discovered at Moreton Bay City Council’s two Treasure Markets.
Bargain hunters can go on a modern-day treasure hunt and find some amazing buys including clothing, homewares, furniture, books, music, collectables and more at the Caboolture and Dakabin waste facilities.
With plenty of people coming through the doors, both stores are now open six days a week, trading from Tuesday through to Sunday, 8am-noon.
Moreton Bay City Council Mayor Peter Flannery says Council’s Treasure Markets are a good way to find second-hand treasures at a fraction of the price.
“If you’re looking for a way to keep living costs down, this is probably the best kept secret in Moreton Bay,” Mayor Flannery says.
“We have two Treasure Markets at our waste facilities stocked to the rafters with bargain priced appliances, furniture, cooking and serving ware, and much more.
“If the kids have outgrown their clothes, there are plenty here so cheap we’re practically giving them away.
“We’ve even got bicycle parts, lawn mowers, you name it.
“Given the expense of construction right now, a great cost saving tip is to come and check out the building items we have here like timber, doors, and windows that could save you a fortune if you’re doing a reno.
“Our Treasure Markets are cheaper than Cash Convertors and safer than Facebook Marketplace - so it’s a real win win to pick up a bargain.
“As they say: One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Take a tour
Savvy shoppers are being encouraged to register for the upcoming Trash to Treasure Tour at the Dakabin Treasure Market.
The tour, which is on Friday, September 1, is an opportunity to learn how waste facilities accept and recover unwanted items and recyclable markets.
Council has selected a pupil-free day to encourage individuals, couples and families to explore the facility and be chauffeured in an airconditioned coach.
The tour will run from 1-2.30pm.
Parents with young ones must arrive by 12.45pm and arrange with the bus driver to install booster seats for children who require them.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Treasure Markets are closed on Good Friday, Anzac Day and Christmas Day.
