Tribute to 'dream team' after winning region's top award

Staff were the key to Sesame Lane Care and Kindergarten’s success at the 2021 Moreton Bay Business Excellence & Innovation Awards.

The family-owned Kippa-Ring company, which started 33 years ago, lifted the Customer Service Excellence Award at Eatons Hill Hotel on Friday.

“This award goes to all our amazing staff,” said Head of Sesame Lane Kerri Smith.

Opportunities

“I think what makes our business special, particularly, is our staff. Our staff make the difference, but we’re also very innovative at Sesame Lane.

“We look to provide opportunities for our families and our children.

“We have been essential workers and not shut down – we kept functioning throughout COVID.”

Humbled by win

Sesame Lane has 14 centres in the Moreton Bay Region employing almost 400 educators, teachers and staff, more than 2000 children from 1700 families.

It partners with businesses, schools, club, churches and charities in the region to help customers and the wider community.

“We at Think 2 B group are very humbled by the win and we’ve always been very supportive of anyone who aspires to be anything they want to be,” co-founder Hilton Misso said.

“Our dream team, led by Kerri, set their goal to win something this year at the awards.

Customer needs

“They set out and did that because they are very committed to the future of staff, the future of the children and the families.

“The commitment is to identify what the customer needs, fulfill that need and do it exceptionally well.

“In childcare we are really inspired by the fact there is so much research showing if you want to influence a person’s life, 0-6 (years) learning is the most critical period.

“We take that very seriously.”
