Triple treat for Redcliffe Tigers AFL teams

The Redcliffe Tigers AFL club is aiming for a trifecta of grand final glory at the weekend, with three youth sides vying for trophies.

The under-12, under-14 Black and under-16 teams have all made the grand final in their respective competitions, which will be decided on Saturday and Sunday.

Club president Scott Stanford says the achievement is particularly special because the teams have been coached by three club life members.

Dave McCreadie’s under-12 side is leading the charge, with their game slated for 1.45pm on Saturday at Yeronga against Kedron.

Steve Jenkins’ under-16s will take on Sandgate at Yeronga at 10.45am on Sunday, followed by Shane Ward’s under-14s against Kawana Park at Kawana Park on Sunday afternoon.

"It's the weekend of the big dance for three of our Redcliffe Tigers teams,” Scott says.

“It’s fitting that all three sides that have made it this far are coached by three club stalwarts.

“One thing is assured, with these men coaching the teams, they will be prepared.”

Scott says with the season disrupted by COVID-19, just making it to the grand final is a massive achievement.

His advice to the teams ahead of the weekend’s games?

“Play hard but fair, support each other, no player gets left behind, work hard until the final siren.

“Win, lose or draw, know this: your club is proud of you all.”
