A popular hip hop dance program that has kids in the United Kingdom busting a move is set to launch in Moreton Bay.

Melissa Mataic from Red Music and Dance Rothwell says she will be the first studio in Moreton Bay to offer the UK dance program Lil Beatz – an award-winning children’s dance program for children aged five and under.

“I have been talking to the people that run Lil Beatz in the UK and I am really excited to bring this fun program to the Moreton Bay Region for the first time,” Melissa says.

“This program has been really popular in the UK because it’s not your typical watered-down kid friendly version.

“It’s real hip hop with Lil Beatz’s own purpose-written pop and urban music that is really catchy – even the parents sing along.

“Lil Beatz is also very multicultural, so there are lots of songs from all over the world too.”

Melissa plans on launching Lil Beatz at the upcoming Moreton Kids Festival – a much-loved family friendly event that will be held at Pine Rivers Park on Sunday, March 12.

“We will be there at the festival with a full stage show, workshops, a marquee and tent to promote what we do,” Melissa says.

“We will also be running workshops on the hour every hour, and if parents and kids love what they see, they can then register to be part of the Lil Beatz launch.

“We will also have a special introductory offer for everyone across the region.”

With her studio based in Rothwell, Melissa understands not all families will be able to make the drive, which is why she plans on taking the classes out to the people.

“I will be taking the Lil Beatz classes out to places like Caboolture, Redcliffe, Mango Hill, Petrie and Arana Hills where they will be run out of community centres,” Melissa explains.

“The classes will be held during the week in the mornings.”

According to the Lil Beatz website, the program was “born from over 20 plus years in the dance industry, working with some of the best dancers around. Our inclusive and diverse dance platform makes it so everyone can join in regardless of ability”.

It also shows there are four locations in Australia where Lil Beatz is offered – two studios in Queensland and two in New South Wales.
