Upgrade starts on vital road upgrade

Work has started to upgrade a section of Caboolture-Bribie Island Rd to a four-lane, dual carriageway.

Project will deliver safety, connectivity and traffic flow improvements along the busy section of road from Old Toorbul Point Rd to just east of Saint Rd.

New traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of Volz and Browns roads.

A ‘U-turn facility’ for eastbound vehicles, pedestrian crossings and upgraded bus stops will be added to the intersection.

As part of the upgrade, uncontrolled right-turn movements will be restricted except for a ‘formal right-turn into Saint Rd which will be added for vehicles travelling westbound on Caboolture-Bribie Island Rd.

The upgrade will be funded by the Federal and State Governments.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg says Caboolture-Bribie Island Rd is an important part of the state network and a key link between Caboolture town centre and the communities of Ningi, Sandstone Point and Bribie Island.

“Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while works are undertaken, however we do acknowledge residents and businesses will be temporarily inconvenienced by these works,” he says.

State Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said it was an essential and priority upgrade for an important road.

“The project will ease congestion and improve traffic flow from Old Toorbul Point Road to just east of Saint Rd, improving access and safety for our growing community,” she says.
